So we got on the road at about 10.30 Spain time, despite alarms going off at 8am it just takes so long to get organised. James was feeling sick and the others looked tired too.
The boys had 70 miles to do, and I had arranged to meet them for lunch around 40 miles in. It was tough going for them, with the hills and the 30 Celsius sunshine. The roads were perfect condition though and from what the boys say the Spanish drivers are very friendly and accommodating.
The scenery was absolutely stunning. Spain is actually beautiful. And the people I've come across so far have been so friendly and helpful.
I met the boys for lunch and they were struggling. It was then just 20 miles to Jaca, where I had found a campsite - up a big hill.
5 miles from the end I got a call from the boys, a serious mechanical they told me. A spoke had come off james' fancy wheel and they were unable to repair it.
I collected james and we went to 3 repair shops. Luckily the third one were able to help, and they sorted it fairly quickly.
James was getting stick from the boys for not cycling the last 5 miles, so now, at 10pm when we're all tired and want to go to sleep, james is off to do the last 5 miles....
That scenery is amazing! Good on James for going back for the last 5 miles, it'll hurt much less than taking stick for it for two more weeks.
ReplyDeleteHaha that's exactly what he said...! It's absolutely beautiful here. Just needs to be less hot really!!
