Day 5: lunch in Xerta

So this morning I took myself straight off to the lunch stop, stopping only to find water and lunch, and for a couple of photos. My 60 mile drive took a different route to the boys - they have two steep mountains to climb, whereas I didn't want to risk the car breaking down again, so went straight through the middle following the valleys.

The drive wasn't as pretty as recent days. This is the only photo I took on the way.

I got a check-in text from James, and it seems it's a similar story this morning for them. He said he had just reached the top of the first of the two mountains, and described it as the most boring climb he's ever done - 10miles of a non varying gradual incline with a head wind.

I arrived in a small riverside town called Xerta at around 11.30 and I've just plonked myself down in a cafe. It's now 12 and I'm expecting the boys to arrive at around 1.30. Without regular check ins it's hard for me to gauge when to expect them, it could be as early as 1 if they make good time, so I can't wander too far.

Usually James is a good boy and gives me updates, so I know how much wandering I can do and how far I can go. There's a river about a mile walk away, so I'd like to go and have a walk around, take some photos with my nice camera, and sit by the river and read my book. Unless I hear from them I will turn back after about 40 mins to make sure I'm at the meeting point for around 1.15.

Right, I've just finished this lovely coffee, so I shall go for my walk. If I see anything interesting I'll take some photos :)

I've also asked the boys if they would like to write something for the blog. While it's nice for you guys to come here and read that they're all doing ok, and that we've arrived places and are safe, it's not exactly a cycling blog is it... Me posting photos of coffees...

In other news, we are very close to hitting £2,000 of donations for MS Sociiety which is absolutely amazing!! Thank you so much, and please keep spreading the word!!

Speak to you all again soon! Xx
