Day 8: Valencia to Bocairent

So with the rest day fading into memory it's back to the task at hand! Today the boys are riding south to a small called Bocairent. The ride was meant to be 66 miles today, fairly flat at first and then a stonking up hill climb for the last bit. However, the campsite we chose on Valencia was much further south of the city than we had planned, effectively shaving off 6 miles from the route today.

Here's the journey for the day:

And the link if you wish to have a look online:

The climbs in the cycle rides are very different here to back home (as James tells me). He said it's quite different, having a steady climb for 10 miles, as you just don't get that back home. It's nice and challenging to do something completely different.

Today is so hot. It has to be the hottest day so far for sure. Maybe it might be because I'm away from the coast, and there isn't as much of a breeze, I'm not sure. But there are no clouds in the sky at all. The current temperature at 1pm is 37C at Murcia airport. Another two hours of heat left. The temperature in the car says 45C. Ridiculous...

I'm in a small town called Xativa and its horrendously hot. Poor boys.

When we get to Bocairent I have booked the boys into a hotel for the night. Woop!! 🎉🎉🎉 the campsites have been quite unhygienic and dusty, very hot and of course lots of admin with putting up tents and taking them down. So we have a comfy bed, wifi, free parking and a swimming pool! Can't wait...
